Our History
The East Warren Community Market began with a few neighbors dreaming about a lively market in East Warren with shelves full of local and organic products alongside basic staples and unique offerings. We wanted the market to be a convenient place in Warren to stop for grocery essentials but perhaps most importantly, we wanted to create a hive of activity; a place to gather, grocer and grow.
That was 2008. Through the sale of memberships, financial contributions, fundraisers including an art show and a community yard sale, we opened our doors in September 2009. We’ve grown and changed a great deal since then, while remaining true to our initial vision. We partner with local farmers, growers and craftspeople. We collaborate with Rootswork in the restoration of our historic schoolhouse. We facilitate all sorts of local initiatives and projects and strive to meet our mission statement every day.
Come visit us at the historic East Warren Schoolhouse, home to our market, Rootswork and WMRW Radio!
What we carry
We are a full grocery store and carry all basic staples at reasonable prices. We do our very best to support purveyors of local and organic products, including our extremely local organic produce from our onsite market garden.
Some of the local products we carry are coffee, eggs, dairy products, meat, freshly baked bread, chocolates, produce and craft beer. Also available are unique gifts, housewares, EWCM hats and clothing, local pottery and jewelry.
Visit us for a killer cup of coffee, a hot breakfast sandwich, a fresh baked good or something from our grab and go door. Our kitchen makes healthy and delicious wraps, containered food and hot soup daily. Or, let the kids loose in our famous candy corner (under the surveillance mirror)!
Meet our Market Manager, Alycia Biondo
I began my work at the market under the previous Manager, Ashley Woods, back in August of 2014 as the beer and wine buyer. Ashley took me under her wing and taught me the ins and outs of our awesome store eventually making me the Assistant Manager. She, along with the Board of Directors, our valued employees and all of our wonderful customers, worked hard and shopped often to create a wonderful and thriving market on the four corners of our little town. When Ashley decided to move on to a new venture, I was named Market Manager. I have been working hard since May of 2016 to maintain the vibe, quality, service and success of our East Warren Community Market. I look forward to and enjoy seeing you all each and every day!
